In 2010 I was doing graduate research in computer science — specifically computer vision and machine learning — when I had an idea for a new twist on traditional tetromino puzzle games. I prototyped the game in my off hours, and after a few revisions found a formula that demanded more focus. In May 2011 I left my research appointment and founded Peace Ray. Since then I've been working fulltime to develop the prototype into a full-size game for Android™ phones, learning game design and Android app development along the way. Just over a year later, Quantro™ is ready for release. Quantro, a falling tetracube puzzle game, combines new and unique game ideas with traditional 2D game modes. It's Android's first falling tetromino game featuring WiFi multiplayer, and with a single text message, any Android phone can be challenged to a game over the Internet. And it's free! Quantro arrived on Google Play™ July 30th. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making it. Jake Rosin (email)
